It’s Been That Kind of Week!
Sometimes it’s just your day, you know? The weather’s warm, your spirits are high, and everything you want is all in your favorite color, your best shape, your perfect size.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, it has not only been my day, it has been my whole damned week!
- My boyfriend’s birthday presents (he celebrates getting older more distinguished on March 25) have all been delivered and/or aquired, and I know he’s going to love them. (I just wish I could brag about them – just a little – before he actually gets them.)
- I won a gorgeous pair of In Bloom Ankle Corsets from talented needle tatting artist TotusMel! As excited as I am, that’s not the best part: she has decided to sell her coveted In Bloom Pendants to all entrants for a mere five dollars, including shipping (that’s 50% off!) until Sunday. So if you entered the giveaway but didn’t win anything (or, hell, even if you did win) do NOT miss this offer.
- The 80%20 wedges I ordered will be here today or tomorrow. (Not everything I buy has to be green or direct-shopped…just most of it.) And yes: I bought the orange ones.
- I spent yesterday’s happy hour at locally-owned, sustainability-minded Caffe Vita, sipping fair-trade espresso (roasted in-house) with three smart, beautiful and totally capable ladies. We talked economics, feminism, social trends, and of course, fashion.
- In part, the coffee date above was to celebrate. I am excited to annouce that myself and two other inspiring, talented bloggers – Seattle’s own Birdie and Chicago-based Miss Elle - have started The Demoiselles. It’s a blog that, we hope, will tear the wool off the eyes of fashion. Instead of talking about all of the trends that work on a six-foot skinny frame, someone should be talking about what works on every frame and, for that matter, every lifestyle. That’s where we come in.
Our newest posts go into the secrets of sizing, how to get the best frock for your frame (no matter what your size and shape) and what our size gripes are, from my short, curvy figure to Birdie’s petite, thin body and Elle’s not-quite-plus-size sexiness. We’ve got tons of other stuff in the works, too, like comparing trends to the real bodies wearing them, how to accentuate the good stuff (instead of trying to hide the bad) and the basics that look good on every frame. Come check out the site, and if you have any suggestions or need some fashion adive, let us know!
So, as you can see, it has been a whirlwind of a week…and all of the stuff I just mentioned has just started. Will I love those wedges? Will my boyfriend freak out about his birthday present and propose on the spot? Will The Demoiselles be as helpful to a world full of real women as I think it will be? I only know one thing for certain: I am definitely going out to Caffe Vita again soon. That latte was delicious!

It has definitely not been my week, but I love that it’s been yours, and I’m super jealous you won the ankle corsets!

Holy crap! Somehow I didn’t put two + two together & realize you were the winner of the ankle corsets!
You are definitely on fire this week.

I love those ankle corsets. Majorly jealous over here!
Those orange wedges are fantastic. I like the fact that the strap continues near the bottom of the shoe. It’s a nice detail that helps break up the big block of color without destroying the effect.
