Jumping on the Eco-Bandwagon: Target
You know how some friends keep you in check (“Nah, we don’t need a third bowl of ice cream”) while others are partners in crime (“Lets finish off the gallon!”)? Today, my dear friend Diana has firmly defined herself as one of the latter: she gave me the heads up about eco-friendly Loomstate‘s partnership with big-box store Target.

Brace yourself: prices for this line – which uses 100% certified organic cotton – start at just $14.99.
Most of what I can find at Target’s website is casual – it is Target, after all – but I can definitely see myself pulling these designs together with a few classic pieces from my own closet to make the perfect outfit for a summer weekend. For example, take a look at this dress:

Knit Shirt Dress – Floral Print: $29.99
With its unassuming design and little embellishments – pockets! – this dress brings to mind a ton of different design options. I can see myself wearing it to my local Farmer’s Market with natural-fiber wedges (maybe from the Zoe and Zac Payless line, which Broke & Beautiful reviewed just yesterday) and a reusable tote, but I can also see it looking super playful with chunky bracelets and a pair of patent pumps. And for $29.99, it’s a really great deal, especially for something made entirely of certified organic cotton.
Since I live in Seattle, though, I’d need something to throw over my cute new dress. What to do, what to do…

Cotton/Linen Sweater in True White: $29.99
This light sweater – made of 53% linen, 47% organic cotton – is my kind of summer evening cover-up. I like how versitle the button-cuff sleeves are, and the single blue button on the back adds a touch of playful fun that pairs perfectly with that messy bun you’ll be sporting at the beach (or pool, for my landlocked readers). It’s also only thirty bucks, and comes in a gauzy blue.
Other pieces of note: Loomstate’s organic cotton ”Cerise Queen” plaid shorts (see that hint of hot pink?) and their affinity for birds (hidden on the back of this dress and a little less than hidden on a tank, short, AND bikini). And if you’re willing to spend a little more, check out Loomstate’s main website, which lists all of the stores that their main (read: more expensive) line is sold at, or go to TheGreenLoop.com, where you can find more of Loomstate’s nature-inspired line.
While you’re there, don’t forget about that SPUN sale. (Organic small business trumps a green mega-corporation every time.)

Looks like I need to get myself to both Target and Payless now.
Sarah’s last blog post..I love pole dance.
YAY! I’m glad you found it on the website cause I just read about it this morning and I haven’t seen it at Target yet although it was suppose to be release the 19th. I want a pair of those plaid shorts! And their cotton tees are super cute and look comfy too!
