I Heart Rummage
When Kristy from Eats & Interests told me about Seattle’s once a month urban craft fest I Heart Rummage, I was a little skeptical. The words “urban crafter” bring to mind everything from pretentious faux-art to cheap glue-gunned plastic jewelry…everything except quality. I Heart Rummage pleasantly surprised me, though: I found everything from quality art (hung on recycled wood) to vegan soap (lightly scented but not too powerful) to indie-styled (without being tacky) t-shirts.
Because of my limited funds I couldn’t pick up much, but I did score a few things. The first was an above-described t-shirt by Midair Designs:
First: no, that is not Tupac. (The guy at the grocery store asked, then recanted, as the nose is totally different. This reminds me that I need to go through some old CDs. Good stuff.) Second, it’s really well-made and fits like a dream – I love the way it hugs my hips. I don’t see it on the Midair Designs Etsy store, but I bet that if you convo’d them, referencing Awakened Aesthetic and the photo on their main website, they’d hook you up with a custom listing. It was 15$ at I Heart Rummage, but it looks like its 16$ on the site. (Because a dollar matters when shirts are that cheap, right?)
If not, there’s lots more to see on their site and their Etsy – Kristy got a WolfBoy t-shirt that she adores and there are unicorn tees for those who like something a little more cuddly.

Paired up with Midair Designs was Manmade Monsters. Their designs are, in short, freaking wicked, and I picked up a Seattle-style tote (with the above design on it) for cheap. Showing off my Seattle pride while buying local greens? Yes, please. (If you want your own Manmade Mosters duds, check their site or their Etsy. I got my tote for five bucks with the purchase of the above shirts, but it’s regularly 10$.)
Next up: steampunk. I know so very, very little about steampunk, but always found it intriguing. I nabbed this watch ring from Grace at Rivkasmom.com, and it’s my first foray into the steampunk realm. Exciting, huh? Well, for those that are really into steampunk, it gets better: her website has so much more. She also does custom work – we were told about an out-of-country customer that loves her custom-made giant gear earings – so if you are looking for that “just the right thing” she can hook you up. The ring was only 20$, too, and it has little tiny rubies embedded in it. I love it.
Lastly, I got the headband feather pin pictured above, but the only info I could gather was that the DJ made it. Which makes me feel kind of really cool.
