Upon arriving home from work today, I noticed a package at my door: it was my spoils from a Twitter giveaway hosted by Caffé Vita: a free bag of their freshly roasted organic Sumatra blend!

One of the many reasons to use Twitter is to connect with like-minded individuals quickly and easily, using a diffused process that makes “six degrees of separation” seem a lot more plausible.  One of the side effects of meeting all of these people (and paying attention to them, of course) is that sometimes you win free stuff.

Of course, it’s true that everything comes at a price: when you get something free on Twitter, it’s often the giver’s hope that you’ll tell others how amazing that free thing is.  Since I already sing the praises of Caffé Vita, though, the gift seemed more like an unintended gift-with-purchase.  Case in point: I already had plans to take a Seattle newcomer to their Capitol Hill location the day after I won!

You should check out Caffé Vita too, if you’re in the area.  Along with Capitol Hill, they’ve also got locations in Fremont, Queen Anne, Seward Park and even all the way south in Olympia.  (Check their site for addresses and directions.)  If not, you can always buy their Seattle-roasted beans online – and pick up some locally produced, organic sweets from Theo Chocolate, while you’re at it.
