What About Wednesday?
Once a week I ask the same bleary-eyed question: “What about Wednesday?” It’s my day to post whatever the hell I feel like, with no regard to fashion, eco-consciousness or, occasionally, even coherent thoughts.
This is new dress has officially become my “go anywhere” outfit. As a purchase from Bluefly.com it’s not nearly green enough for my usual postings, but as it’s Wednesday (the perfect excuse) and I need your help, I’m making an exception.
The dress is made by énvi, a designer that is still a bit of a mystery to me. They don’t seem to be affiliated with the similarly-named prom dresses, Envi Prom (though I could be wrong on this), the only brand descriptions are canned text without links, and any information about their manufacturing practices or location? Please.
But their dresses are so, so pretty, and I’ve been able to find most of them on sale at discount shopping sites, including the aforementioned Bluefly, as well as Mimi’s Boutique and even Ebay. (Anthropologie carries them, too, but at full retail price. They’re also owned by Urban Outfitters, which donates to extreme right-wing causes and likes to copy high-end designers, so I don’t recommend buying from them, no matter how cute their clothes are or which designers they carry.)
I’m so pleased with this purchase that I’ve vowed to find out more about énvi. The logical first step, of course, is coming to all of you: have you ever heard of this elusive brand? Do you know someone at Anthropologie with the inside scoop? (Jenna, I’m looking to you here!) If you’ve got the skinny, let me know, and if not, I’ll go back to hunting so I can keep you posted on this fun, flattering designer.

Envi is a NY-based design label, all of their clothes are manufactured in the USA – as far as I know, in NYC. It’s a great line, we carry it at Ginger Boutique in Winter Park, FL and Bethesda, MD.
