What About Wednesday
Once a week I ask the same bleary-eyed question: “What about Wednesday?” It’s my day to post whatever the hell I feel like, with no regard to fashion, eco-consciousness or, occasionally, even coherent thoughts.
Twitspirtion: “What Does Awesome Smell Like?”

On Tuesday, June 6, I made a Twitter delcaration: “I have decided that today is going to be awesome. Care to join me?” It was just an offhand comment, but many of you DID join me, and the simplicity of claiming a day as awesome really made me feel…well, awesome. In the process, we somehow got caught on the smell of awesome, which was waxed upon by my fellow Twitterers:
What does awesome smell like?
- Birdiee, author of Bonne Vie: cookies, Lush Flying Fox, and good coffee.
- k_to_the_t, writer at Sad or Awesome: dryer clothes and chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven…and rain.
- AuCourant_Amour, handbag designer on Etsy: fresh baked cookies. (We have a theme!)
- daddylikeyblog, author of Daddy Likey: the vintage sunglasses bin at Goodwill.
- kristinpotpie, a Seattle events and marketing coordinator: slightly sweet with a hint of mint – refreshing.
- photophly, a Seattle photographer: a fresh breeze or citrus or coffee.
To me, awesome smells like lillies and ocean water. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest will do that to a girl: every happy memory can be linked to Puget Sound or the Pacific Ocean, and I can’t help but smile at the sound of waves and the scent of salt mixing with the sweet summer air.

Awesome to me is the smell of the inside of Spaceship Earth (the ride in Epcot, Disney World). It’s been the same smell since forever. And we ALWAYS mention it whenever we go. It takes us back to our childhoods there.
