Rusted Skies: Carnelian and Blue
Sometimes inspiration comes simply: the front page of Etsy lists a user-created, rotating “treasury” and oftentimes I find myself attracted to the pretty things that pop up there. A recent treasury, created by CowlickCutey, inspired me to start looking into a color combination I haven’t seen in a while: deep, dark reds paired with a light sky blue.

Red Camellias by Bullfinch and Barbury: $45
This bangle is what started my hunt for all things red-and-blue. It’s made by Bullfinch and Barbury, an enamel designer out of Philadelphia that draws inspiration from antiques, exotic flowering plants and “even the manner in which color projects personality.” Here’s what she has to say about this bracelet: “The Camellia flower is one of the most prized and meaningful flowers of China, where the blooms are understood to symbolize devotion.”

Big Tree Little Tree Change Purse Wallet by anotherjamiedavis: $32
Sometimes “updated vintage” means “totally cute,” and other times it means “why did you screw up a classic?!” This, in my opinion, is definitely the former. AnotherJamieDavis took this eel skin change purse (if you’re going to do animal products, do ‘em vintage) and added a strip of turquoise wood grain embroidery on each side. It was a daring move, but I think it really worked out.

Modern Love pendant by Grey Willow Studios: $18
I love how simple and elegant this pendant is. I can see it worn with a basic black dress, jeans and a v-neck, or even as an accessory to a swimsuit. It’s made of enamel by Grey Willow Studios out of South Carolina – you can check out her second shop (which lists feedback) here.

Recycled Tin and Brass necklace by Little Black Rabbit: $40
Okay, one more necklace. This one is made by Little Black Rabbit, a Seattlite with a penchant for all things vintage, out of a tin from Holland. It’s long enough to be layered over almost any neckline, and the worn look would be perfect with modern-cut clothes and a pair of gold- or brass-colored pumps.

Here Comes the Sun on ShopRuche.com: $29.99
The only item in this post that I didn’t grab off of Etsy, this top is listed in the eco-friendly section of ShopRuche.com. Bonus points: use coupon code “demoiselles” to get ten percent off your entire order! (Remember that champagne tunic dress I mentioned as an alternative to Urban Outfitters? That’s 10% off too.)

Ooooo! I’d never thought about this pairing before, but I absolutely love it, especially that bracelet. Now wondering what I can do with the combo in the clothing I’m working on (read: plotting to work on once my sewing machine isn’t broken anymore).
