Can I Just Wear a Pretty Dress for Halloween?
I spent the weekend looking for my Halloween costume. I’m impressively late in doing so – especially since I’m hosting a Halloween party this year – but…well, okay, I procrastinated. There, I admit it. You happy now?
It doesn’t help that while I was shopping, I found tons of things I loved, and none of them related to my costume ideas in the slightest. Oh, Universe, why do you torture me?
Instead of ordering a Halloween costume, I’m going to show you the pretty dresses I found. Can anyone think of a way to turn these into costumes? ‘Cause really, I’d rather just wear a pretty dress on Halloween, especially if that dress is organic or sustainable (and these all are).
I love the cut, I love the super-long wrap belt, I love that it comes with a slip so you don’t have to buy one, I love that it’s on sale…I just love it. And want it. (I don’t love that there are only seven left.)
I’ve seen tech-inspired graphics being used by a lot of designers lately, and really like how stark and strong the look is. This dress is one of my favorites: the “pixels” are bold but soft. (It also comes in a tank style – with a cardigan and pencil skirt, anyone?)
Oh Etsy, how I adore you. Somehow, you manage to attract independent designers that can make jumpers I’d actually wear, and for prices I’d actually pay. This one’s only a hundred bucks, and it’s made to order.

Organic Bamboo Velour & Silk Wedding Gown
A well-known designer wedding dress? Something out of a magazine? David’s Bridal? Screw that. Give me this organic cotton beauty and a beachfront ceremony. It’s all I need.

Prairie Underground Prisim Dress
I think this one just might work for the Halloween costume I’m considering, but it’s so pretty that I don’t want to use it for fear I’d ruin it. Wouldn’t it be great belted, with thick tights and booties? (It’s also on sale.)

Prairie Underground Mothette Dress
It’s almost November. It’s constantly raining. How could this comfortable, cinched-waist dress be anything but tempting?
What about you wearing for Halloween? (Pictures, please!)

They just track who clicks what, and if someone happens to click on a link, then buy something off of the site the link is connected to, Awakened Aesthetic gets a bonus. Those bonuses support hosting, fees, and giveaway costs for the site – they always come back to you. And rest assured, I only affiliate with sustainable, conscious sites that have products I own and love, so you’ll never see me sell out just to make a buck.

I think the Edun Ashanti Tunic or Prarie Undergroung Prism Dress would make great peices for a flower child type costume, add some beads, a braided leather headband and a daisy in hand and you are set (plus you’ll have a great dress to wear a million ways throughout the year!).

That’s a great idea!! I hadn’t even thought of going as a flower child. Thanks for the tip – I just might get something express shipped so I have a costume AND a great dress for later.
