To Covet: in a land where trees are queens

File under: Awakened Options: Recycled, Home Design, To Covet

Occasionally, I like to post things that I just plain want – and can’t buy.  Ergo, the semi-regular To Covet: a category that shows one thing that I’ve been coveting, but really can’t afford…or have no space for…or just plain shouldn’t buy for one reason or another.

in a land where trees are queens by Unconventional Ida on Etsy

Before the remake of Where the Wild Things Are…before the photo manipulations in Lily Allen’s “F*uck You” music videoUnconventional Ida was twisting proportions and creating a fantasy world in her art studio.  I keep coming back to her work because the characters she makes, her creations, inspire something within me.

She’s got lots of original art in her online store right now, including this piece, which sells for $85.00.  The colored pencil and ink on (recycled!) woodgrain give this piece such depth, and because her characters always have such intricate facial expressions, I can’t help but think of a story for each of them – a fantasy land they came from and what they’re thinking about as she paints them.
