Today’s sales, hosted by Gilt and Gilt Fuse (my favorite family of sample sale sites), features Archipelago Candles & Diffusers and Nugaard Jewelry.

I’ve been curious about diffusers since I saw one in a friend’s bathroom. They’re quite simple – no lighting candles or spraying chemicals to add a soft scent to a room – while still looking elegant. (I can’t tell you how often I’ve been annoyed to see the bottle of Oust sitting on my otherwise pretty bathroom counter every time I have guests.)

Archipelago‘s candles and diffusers are all-natural and soy-based, with scents that surpass the typical lavendars and lilacs: African Freesia, Bergamot Tobacco, Fiji and Dubai…

Add to that the simple, elegant packaging, which would look good on almost any surface, in any room, and Archipelago makes a pretty fantastic design accessory. If this sale had come up early, I probably would have picked up a candle or two for my mom (who got the Mint Mojito Paddywax candle instead).

Truly sustainable jewelry designers – ones that aren’t on Etsy, once that use metal – are so hard to find. I love it when Gilt showcases one on their site, because despite how unpopular they are, conscious jewelry designers should be the wave of the future. (However, I’m not holding my breath.)

Nugaard Jewelry plays with trends, mixing timeless gold braiding and pearls with much more current looks, like rough, natural stones and oxidized metals. Almost all of their work is created by local artisans who use agency-certified eco-sound techniques and materials. With all their different styles – bohemian, modern, classic, chunky oversized – they should have a pretty good selection listed at Gilt Fuse (which, if you’ll remember, is the cheapest of the Gilt sites).
