Sustainable Sales: Gypsy 05
We’ve had a mellow winter, here in Seattle: temperatures in the forties, temperamental cloud cover, and not a speck of snow to be seen. While some of my friends think this is a sign of early spring, I know better: the northwest is known for pulling the rug out from under you just when you think the season’s over. It usually happens in February, with a deep freeze that surprises even the best forecasters.
So, when all the boutiques start having their “end of season” sales, I’m still cultivating my cold weather wardrobe…because it ain’t over ’til summer says it’s over (and a Seattle spring is a cold, wet thing). At the same time, I like to keep my eye out for my favorite warm weather styles, too, which I can often find at upwards of 50% off, especially after the holiday season.

Gypsy 05 has both options, with a line featuring summer-styled dresses and winter-appropriate scarves. Today’s sale at Gilt promises both sides of the seasonal coin gives us the winter option (my favorite being the Ombre in Olive, Burgundy or Black), and it’s all sustainably-produced and eco-conscious. Here’s Gilt’s backstory:
Fashion your own summer of love in luxe layers of low-impact dyed silks and organic knits. Gypsy05, by the Hollywood-based brother-and-sister design duo of Osi and Dotan Shoham, offers more proof that going green definitely does not need to mean going granola. These boho-chic scarves, airy maxi-dresses and tie-dye minis have been snapped up by Young Hollywood starlets like Taylor Momsen, Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez, so you know you too can look camera-ready even while embodying Osi and Dotan’s mission statement to “recycle, reduce, re-planet.”
The sale starts this morning at 9AM PST. Let me know if anything strikes your fancy!
