Sustainable Sales: 20% Off Denim at Tobi

Organic denim is wicked expensive – so expensive that I don’t actually own any organic denim, because I just plain can’t afford it unless it goes on sale.

So, of course, just after I start to dig myself out of the hole from moving to a new house, taking the dog to the vet, paying all of my domain name fees…Tobi has a sale on all of their regularly-priced jeans.  Including their organic stuff.

Thanks, Tobi, for having a sale at the exact moment that I have just enough money, but really should save it for a(nother) rainy day.  (Damn it.)

Here are the details: Today and tomorrow, you can use the code BOTTOMSUP, to take 20% off any regular-priced designer denim at Tobi.com.  Since sustainable denim - selvedge jeans, organic cotton, raw denim - can be incredibly expensive, this is a great chance for those of you that, like me, haven’t had the funds to pick up a pair of $200 jeans.  (It’s also a good time to get those non-organic “denim leggings” that seem to be all over the fashion world, since all of Tobi’s denim is on sale, not just the eco-friendly stuff.)

If I could justify the purchase, here’s what I’d get:

Loomstate Kharma Bootcut Jeans in Basin
Loomstate Kharma Bootcut Jeans in Basin: $161
$128.80 with code BOTTOMSUP

Bootcut is coming back.  Seriously.  I predict that this spring and summer will be the resurgence of this figure-flattering trend – which is awesome, because it’s my favorite cut of all time – and if I could only get one pair of jeans from this sale, these would be it.  A dark wash can be dressed up with heels or down with Converse, and the even wash is perfect for almost any style.

Loomstate Lover Boyfriend Straight Leg Jeans in Deluca
Loomstate Lover Boyfriend Straight Leg Jeans in Deluca: $154
$123.20 with code BOTTOMSUP

Okay, these are just cute.  I don’t normally like the Boyfriend jean, but the extra-long cuff and baggy sillouette are perfect for menswear-inspired outfits.  (Think a tight, fitted button-up and blazer with sky-high heels.)

Loomstate Flux Slim Tapered Leg Jeans in Fossil
Loomstate Flux Slim Tapered Leg Jeans in Fossil: $168
$134.40 with code BOTTOMSUP

Slim, but not too slim.  I feel like these could last longer in my closet than most skinnies because the wash and five-pocket design are so classy.

Loomstate Maiden Wide Leg Jeans in Trace
Loomstate Maiden Wide Leg Jeans in Trace: $180
$144 with code BOTTOMSUP

Every girl needs a wide-leg pant.  No, don’t argue; just buy them.  You’ll thank me.  Seriously.  (A side note: today I wore a long, belted funnel-neck jacket with wide-leg trousers, and I felt like a movie star as I was walking down the street to the office.  The flow of the pants, the length of my body in my trench…Seriously, I cannot live without a couple of pairs of wide-leg pants.)

And yes, I have some for the men, too. — Actually, this is the part of the sale I was really looking forward to: the boyfriend is in desparate need of a few pairs of good jeans. Right now he only wears two pairs – both designer, ahem - and I am so sick of having to wash them twice a week!

Nudie Jeans Bootcut Barry Jeans in Dry Old Organic
Nudie Jeans Bootcut Barry Jeans in Dry Old Organic: $199
$159.20 with code BOTTOMSUP

Really, you don’t even have to look at anything else.  These jeans are insanely sexy.  Sadly, my guy is 6’5″, and wears a whopping 36″ inseam.  These only go up to a 34″.  FRICK.  (In other words: temptation averted.)

Loomstate Mission Relaxed Straight Leg Jeans in Seneca
Loomstate Mission Relaxed Straight Leg Jeans in Seneca $185
$148 with code BOTTOMSUP

I love these as a “casual jean” for guys that don’t like to get too dressed up, or want to do the deconstructed look without buying jeans with pre-made holes.  (Note: I think pre-made holes are stupid.  End note.)  However, they also come in Salton, for those that love this cut but would prefer a darker wash.

Loomstate Revival Bootcut Jeans in Fossil
Loomstate Revival Bootcut Jeans in Fossil: $168
$134.40 with code BOTTOMSUP

GO LOOK AT THE SIDE VIEW, PLEASE.  Oh my booty.  (Translation: these are good “butt jeans.”  Take note, guys.)

Bottoms up, indeed.

Naked & Famous Denim WeirdGuy Natural Organic Selvedge in Indigo
Naked & Famous Denim WeirdGuy Natural Organic Selvedge in Indigo: $220
$176 with code BOTTOMSUP

Yes, yes yes: some guys like the tapered jean.  Please note that this cut is called the “WeirdGuy,” and I approve of that phrasing.  Also note that I am the rare girl that doesn’t adore the tapered jean on men right now, so my opinion on this matter should be all but ignored.  (Naked & Famous is a kick-ass brand, though, so if you do like the cut, you can’t go wrong picking up this pair.)

Tobi doesn’t list everything sustainable in their eco-friendly section, so for more eco-friendly options you can search their site for “selvedge” (a process that uses more fabric and creates less waste) or the designer Rogan, which uses eco-friendly fabrics.  Or just browse…and keep your eye out!

Remember: this sale ends tomorrow at midnight, so if you want the savings – which, on sustainable denim, are rare – you have to shop now.  (Please hold me back.)
