There are reasons that Lindsay (f/k/a Elle) is my best friend.  Chief among them is our sense of balance with each other: I’m logical and controlled; she’s wild and unpredictable.  My sense of style is classic; hers is trend-setting.  I search for the balance point in almost every debate; she makes her stand and takes out dissenters with the sharpest wit I’ve ever seen.

And, most important to this post: I come up with the modern-day, easy eco-conscious rules to follow – and search for the designers that follow them – and Lindsay makes my day by finding some of the best sales I’ve ever seen.

This morning, she sent me to Yoox.com, which is having a huge sample sale, and one of the designers Yoox has marked down is Stella McCartney.   Along with being an amazing high-end designer, Stella is the daughter of Paul McCartney and a huge animal-rights activist.  Her collections are romantic, fun and always just a little bit funky, and she’s adamant about using non-animal fabrics like plastic, vinyl and cork.  You won’t find a single item made of leather, no matter how hard you look.  Absolutely everything in her collection is cruelty-free.

The detailing on this dress is exquisite – and it’s over 70% off. It’s a great pairing for both summer, with natural wood wedges, and in winter with tights and boots.

Stella McCartney Short Crepe Dress: $490 $135

Two words: garden party.  It also comes in a pretty pale pink.

The shiny fabric on this one reminds me of Matt & Nat, another great vegan designer.

Architecture!  Stark white double-breasted awesome shoulders architecture!  I’m a little shocked Lindsay didn’t post this one.

Stella McCartney Knit Tank: $325 $39

If you’re dying to have something by Stella McCartney but can’t afford more than fifty bucks, this tank and the angora jumper(three down) are your best bet.  I have a couple of designer basics, and unlike the stuff at Target and Ross, these ones really do last for years, and retain their shape.

The cut on these is universally flattering, and the gold adds a pretty touch.

These also come in military green, which is pretty much bad-ass (and more trendy for summer and early fall).

This is the ultimate ballerina top – which means I have to have it.  Please don’t buy it in an eight, unless you’re buying it for me.

I don’t care if grey jeans aren’t hugely popular – they’re still gorgeous, and when you’re bored with cargos, they’ll still go with all the florals and pretty romantic things that ARE in season.

This dress makes me wish I could find an eco-friendly strapless bra…or just one that worked on my double D’s.
