Sustainable Sales: White + Warren and Glassybaby
I want everything that is on sale at Gilt this week. Sadly, though, not everything is sustainable or eco-friendly…but some of today’s sales are!
White + Warren

From ribbed scarves to cashmere cardigans, White + Warren’s knitwear combines rich yarns with everyday wearability and style. Started in 1997 by fashion-industry veterans Susan White and Barbara Benenson Warren, the line has a loyal Hollywood following. In addition to its luxurious cashmere offerings, which come in several undyed, eco-conscious looks, White + Warren also boasts modal and cotton pieces. [Ed. Note: Cashmere can be obtained by obtained through combing during molting season or by shearing, so there is such a thing as eco-cashmere.]
Glassybaby
Available in hundreds of rich colors, Glassybaby’s votive candleholders serve as a beacon for those seeking stylish simplicity. Lee Rhodes, a three-time cancer survivor, started the company in Seattle in 2001; it has since grown to employ 30 artisans who make the vessels by hand using a multi-layered glass-blowing process. The votives’ hues range from the straightforward (Ferrari red and Goldenrod) to the more exotic (Cabo and Studio 54). Never forgetting its roots, the company also donates 10% of profits from sales of certain Glassybaby colors to cancer and environmental charities. [Ed. Note: Glassybaby is crazilly coveted in Seattle, with their annual sales boasting lines out the door.]
Both of these sales are featured at Gilt.com – if you’re not already a member, here’s an invitation to the site. (They don’t spam you.)
You know what else I’ve been seeing all over sample sale sites? Swimsuits. And I need one. Finding something eco-friendly and relatively inexpensive is really, really difficult, though. Maybe I’ll scour Etsy…
What summer clothes have you been shopping for lately?

Would love to be thinking about summer clothes, but it’s still too cold for me.
Always glad to see GlassyBaby in the news….
