Awakened Aestheticsm, launched in Seattle in 2009, is one of the first and most awesome ethical fashion and beauty blogs on the market. After gaining momentum through independent design and organic brand features, as well as an introduction of an educational series of informational “Exposés” about the harm done by some of the most popular US retailers, Awakened Aesthetic has gone back to basics. We focus on the best ethical (and accessible) designers, host interviews with sustainable designers and retailers, and offer exclusive discount codes and giveaways for the best ethical products out there.
The goal of Awakened Aesthetic is to make ethical self expression simple, by finding the information and products that will make it easier to shop sustainably and presenting it in a way that makes sense…a way that doesn’t suck. In fact, we have a pretty sweet tagline that encompasses that:
Awakened Aesthetic:
The fashion conscience for the fashion conscious.

Jennifer Nicole, a West Seattle resident, is a fledgling ethicist with a stubborn streak. Proof that you can live on a budget and still avoid places like WalMart, Jennifer’s goal is to research all of her favorite companies and expose their underbellies – seedy and otherwise. She has a special affection for independent woman-owned businesses, and thinks it’s better to know what a company is up to – and have to give them up – than find out, years later, that you’ve been supporting a cause you don’t believe in.-
Expect posts on everything and anything, but especially ethical fashion designers, charitable companies, bad corporate business practices and custom Etsy favorites lists inspired by her mutable tastes. |

Lindsay loves shopping, as any Queen Anne inhabitant should, but loves supporting good business practices more. A believer in transparent, ethical consumption, Lindsay has paved the way for major boycotts and ethical alternatives. Her favorite form of ethical consumption is a product made with nature in mind – its conservation and its aesthetic – and she uses music by independent artists to inspire many of her research-filled hours and sustainable posts.-
You’ll find Lindsay writing about her favorite independent fashion designers, reviews from the green runway, and even more ethical designer profiles and exposés of shifty corporate business practices. |
